Overview

Central Nagoya green space where you can relax, play and enjoy cherry blossoms in bloom each spring.

Tsuruma is Nagoya's oldest public park, opened in 1909, and its roughly 750 cherry trees make it one of the city's top hanami destinations from late March through early April. Families and office groups spread out across the lawns for picnics under the blossoms, creating a festive atmosphere that feels genuinely local. Outside cherry season, a rose garden with over 1,400 bushes blooms in early summer, lotus ponds open in July, and hydrangea paths color up around the same time. The park also has tennis courts, a concert pavilion, and a library, and is directly accessible from Tsuruma Station on the JR Chuo Line.
