Chairlift ascending Mount Tsurugi, Shikoku's second-highest peak, offering easy access to alpine hiking trails.
Chairlift on the slopes of Mount Tsurugi, at 1,955 meters the second-highest peak in Shikoku. The lift starts from the mountain road and carries riders through dwarf pine and subalpine scrub to a midpoint station, reducing the summit hike from several hours to around 90 minutes of total walking. The upper section of the trail involves steep switchbacks and wooden stair sections, with the summit marked by a small shrine compound. Views from the top cover the Shikoku mountain interior and, in clear conditions, extend to the Inland Sea and Kyushu. The mountain is snow-covered from December through April, and the lift operates seasonally.
