Overview

Side-street food alley off Kamakura's main approach: shirasu bowls, wagashi, and craft beer.

The raised ceremonial approach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, lined with cherry trees between the second and third torii gates. Built by Minamoto no Yoritomo, it transforms into a tunnel of cherry blossoms in early April.

Local tips

Sit at the counter if possible. You'll see the preparation up close and chefs often offer extras to counter guests. Avoid weekends if possible. The Enoden train and hiking trails get very crowded with day-trippers from Tokyo.
