Overview
The Toyota Kuragaike Commemorative Hall, located beside Kuragaike Park, was built in 1974 by the Toyota Motor Corporation.
Built in 1974 to mark the production of Toyota's 10 millionth vehicle, this modernist building beside Kuragaike Park was designed by architect Maki Fumihiko. It functions as both a VIP guesthouse and a public museum tracing the company's origins from Toyoda Sakichi's Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, founded in 1867. Two of Sakichi's original looms are on display and still operate. The exhibition room includes dioramas of key moments in Japanese automotive history and a model of Toyota's first factory from 1938. Outside stands Toyoda Kiichiro's former residence, a 1930s house relocated here in 1999.
