Tottori Prefectural Mukibanda Historical Park

Mukibanda Historical Park preserves the largest known Yayoi period settlement, with about 950 building sites across seven connected districts at the foot of Mt. Daisen. Chinese bronze mirror fragments and glass trade beads confirm the village was part of long-distance exchange networks by the second century CE. About 21 buildings have been reconstructed on their original foundations, including pit dwellings dug a meter into the ground and raised storehouses set 2 meters up to deter rodents. Some are left incomplete to show construction methods. The visitor center, Yayoi Mukibanda Hall, has hands-on pottery and tool-making workshops and three pit dwellings preserved in their excavated state.
