Overview
Somen nagashi flowing noodle restaurant in Ibusuki, serving Kagoshima's famous summer snack in bamboo flumes.
Somen nagashi, thin noodles chilled in flowing spring water and caught with chopsticks at the table, is one of Kagoshima's signature summer experiences, and this sprawling, barn-like restaurant at the foot of Mt. Kaimon is the most famous place to try it. Beyond the noodles, the menu includes grilled river fish, sashimi, and hearty set meals. The setting feels almost canteen-like inside, but the surrounding greenery and mountain views more than compensate. Arrive early on weekends to avoid the wait, and expect to spend around 1,300-2,000 yen per person.
