Tokugawaen Garden
garden
徳川園
Landscaped garden with a central pond, bridges, picturesque paths, and tea houses.
A beautifully restored daimyo garden originally belonging to the Owari branch of the Tokugawa shogunate, featuring a pond representing the sea, streams symbolizing rivers, and carefully placed stones. The adjacent Tokugawa Art Museum houses over 10,000 artifacts including a 12th-century illustrated scroll of The Tale of Genji. Together, they offer insight into the refined aesthetics and immense wealth of Japan's most powerful samurai clan.
