Overview

Tokashiki is the largest of the Kerama Islands, which are about 30km west of Okinawa's main island.

A 7-kilometer round trip from Aharen Village on Tokashiki Island, this trail climbs steeply out of the village before leveling onto the exposed Maetake Forest Road heading south. At Aharen Cape you reach the island's southernmost tip, where the wind picks up and the sea opens wide below the clifftops. The small island of Unjima sits close by, its lone white lighthouse visible from the edge. Bring water for the exposed middle stretch. A side detour to Uragaoka Viewpoint on the way back adds variety without much extra effort.
