Tokachi Millennium Forest
park
十勝千年の森
An ambitious ecological project and world-class garden.
Covering 400 hectares in Hokkaido's Tokachi region, Tokachi Millennium Forest was designed with a 1,000-year planning horizon in mind, placing ecological function ahead of decorative gardening. British designer Dan Pearson shaped the naturalistic approach across five distinct areas including the award-winning Earth Garden and Meadow Garden. The farm herd of goats produces award-winning cheese, and a kitchen workshop lets visitors make their own. The garden cafe sources most of its produce from on-site growing areas. Segway tours and horseback rides extend access across the full grounds. Open late April through mid-October.
