Modern and contemporary art museum in Utsunomiya, with Western European masters and a Meissen porcelain room.
One of Japan's first public museums of modern and contemporary art, open since 1972. The collection runs to roughly 9,000 works: Japanese artists tied to Tochigi alongside Western European painters, with Constable, Corot, Monet, and Turner among them. A dedicated room rotates roughly 100 pieces from its Meissen porcelain collection. Closed Mondays.
