The Path to Good Fortune
開運の小道
Overview
Since ancient times this route has been a place of pilgrimage, and mountain ascetics would meditate inside these tiny, cave-like structures.
This pilgrimage route on the slopes of Osorezan passes through six torii gates, each marking an inactive volcanic vent. Mountain ascetics once meditated inside these cave-like structures, and visitors still stop to pray at each one. The six deities along the path cover a range of protections: the god of wind disperses impurities and guards against typhoons, the god of fire protects households from kitchen fires, the mountain god oversees water and rice paddies, the god of gold watches over metalworking and wealth, a deity of enormous strength aids those seeking victory, and the sun goddess bestows happiness and peace.
