Millions of years of erosion and the rise and fall of coral reefs formed the unusual geological formations on this rugged coastline.
Shaped from millions of years of erosion and the rise and fall of coral reefs, leaving a shoreline of granite, limestone, and mixed rock formations. Dozens of cylindrical potholes up to 50 centimeters wide were drilled into the rock surface by circular water currents carrying small stones over long periods. Tidal pools hold hermit crabs and tropical fish, and a series of caves to the right of the main outcrop have walls colored by mineral deposits, with bats roosting in the crevices. Cycad, fragrant screw pine, and the endangered Chinese wormwood grow along the cliff edges. Check tide schedules before exploring, as some areas become inaccessible at high water.
