Moss-covered stone kiln built to fuel Kagoshima's early industrial furnaces.

A sturdy stone kiln built by the Shimadzu clan to produce white charcoal for their reverberatory furnaces. Deep in the Kagoshima forest, the mossy stone walls offer a quiet look at the fuel sources of early Japanese industry. The lush nature surrounding the kiln adds to its evocative atmosphere.
