Overview

Many visitors pass through Teradomari to shop and eat fresh seafood on the famous Teradomari Fish Market Street, visit historic temples, or enjoy the yellow tsuwabuki.

Three distinct hot spring facilities serve the seaside town of Teradomari, each drawing from different sources and offering different bathing experiences. Sumiyoshi-ya, a historic inn tracing its history to the late seventeenth century, has outdoor cypress-wood baths fed by both a sodium-hydrogen carbonate spring and a cool chloride spring, with views across Teradomari Port toward the Sea of Japan. It also manages a private Finnish-style sauna available by reservation. Hokushinkan, a small nine-room mountain inn, offers access to both a brownish-red sodium chloride spring and an unusual cold-mineral spring at 14 degrees Celsius. Hotel Asuka, closest to the shore, has rotating bathing areas where on clear days Sado Island is visible in the distance.
