The Tenjuin Mausoleum is the final resting place of the daimyo Mōri Terumoto (1553–1625) and his wife, known both as Seikōin and Lady Minami no Ōkata (1558–1631).
Burial site of Mori Terumoto, who ruled a vast domain before the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, and his wife. Terumoto was one of five regents appointed to govern Japan after Toyotomi Hideyoshi's death, but his decision to remain in Osaka Castle rather than commit his forces at Sekigahara arguably cost the anti-Tokugawa side the decisive battle. As punishment, most of his domain holdings were stripped away and the Mori family relocated from Hiroshima to Hagi. The graves are marked by paired five-tier gorintō stone towers, with stone lanterns lining a 64-meter approach path.
