Overview

Tenjoyama Park is one of the most popular sightseeing destinations in the Fuji Five Lakes area, attracting thousands of visitors daily.

Tenjoyama Park sits near the summit of Mt. Tenjo above Lake Kawaguchiko, accessible by a three-minute ropeway ride that climbs 219 meters over forested slopes. The park's observation deck faces Mt. Fuji to the south and offers a full 360-degree panoramic view. The ropeway and park are themed around the Japanese folktale Kachi-Kachi Yama, set on this mountain in a retelling by novelist Dazai Osamu. Statues, a rabbit shrine, and a souvenir teahouse reference the story throughout. In winter, heated kotatsu tables are set up on the observation deck. Many visitors ride up and hike down through the forest instead of taking the ropeway back.
