Overview
Tenjin is Fukuoka's western hub and is packed with a diverse range of shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife.
Fukuoka's main commercial and shopping district, a bustling grid of department stores, fashion boutiques, and restaurants radiating out from Tenjin Station. Below street level, the Tenjin Underground Shopping City (Tenchika) stretches for over 600 meters with hundreds of shops and eateries, making it especially useful on rainy days. The Naka River runs along the eastern edge, where evening yatai food stalls set up alongside Nakasu, and Tenjin Central Park provides a sliver of green in the middle of the action. The area is also home to the Fukuoka Art Museum and the IMS and PARCO shopping complexes, making it the natural hub for a day of urban exploration.
