Overview
Terraced hillside park overlooking Nagasaki transforming into pink cherry blossom vision each spring.
The town of Tateyama in Nagasaki serves as the entry point for the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a mountain crossing through the Northern Alps with views of snow-covered peaks and the massive Kurobe Dam. In early spring the route's snow corridor, flanked by walls up to 20 meters high, draws significant attention. Beyond the alpine route, the area holds the sacred three-peaked Mt. Tate at 3,015 meters, a pilgrimage site for centuries. The former center of these mountain beliefs, the village of Ashikuraji, houses the Tateyama Museum of Toyama with in-depth coverage of the area's religious and environmental history.
