Fed by the large cluster of springs in the Tokaichiba and Natsugari areas, these two scenic waterfalls drop 10 m into the Shakunagare River.
Two waterfalls drop 10 meters into the Shakunagare River, fed by springs in the Tokaichiba and Natsugari areas of Yamanashi. Legend names them after two brothers who turned to theft to survive, only to fall from the cliff during a chase. The river itself carries its own story: the name means Ladle Flow, tied to a tale of a deity's ladle piercing Lake Kawaguchi at the foot of Mt. Fuji and creating an underground channel to Mt. Mitsutoge, where the river begins. The falls sit within easy reach as part of a walk through the green foothills surrounding the Katsura River basin.
