Tamaki Shrine

玉置神社 (看板)

4.7Est. 90Nara, Kansai
JTA Approved

The shrine sits at a 1,076-meter summit, but the draw is the grove of ancient cedars, protected by a centuries-long logging ban. Find the 3,000-year-old Jindai-sugi and the Meoto-sugi, two trees fused at the trunk. Before the main hall, purify your hands at the temizuya.

Local tips

Purify your hands at the temizuya before approaching the main hall. Left hand first, then right, then pour water into your left hand to rinse your mouth.
