竹田温泉花水月
The Taketa Onsen Hanamizuki complex on the edge of the former castle town of Taketa consists of a hot-spring bathhouse and a gift shop.
Taketa Onsen Hanamizuki opened in 2001 as the first bathing facility in the former castle town of Taketa. The traditional-style bathhouse is on the second floor; the first floor has a shop stocking local souvenirs including kabosu citrus products and saffron, about 80 percent of Japan's domestic saffron production coming from this area. The building also sells the Castle Town Passport, a two-day pass covering discounted entry to five Taketa attractions for 800 yen. On weekends between noon and 5 p.m., a free outdoor foot bath by the entrance lets visitors rest without going inside.
Wash thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the bath. This is non-negotiable etiquette. Bring a small towel but keep it out of the water.
