The central image is the conjoined red and black pine, a symbol of lasting marriage from a Noh play. Note the 1799 stone lantern that once guided ships from the coast. Before approaching the hall, purify your hands at the temizuya: left hand first, then right.
Purify your hands at the temizuya before approaching the main hall. Left hand first, then right, then pour water into your left hand to rinse your mouth.
