Tadewara Marsh

Tadewara Marsh sits at around 1,000 meters elevation on the northwest flank of the Kuju Mountain Range, fed by mineral-rich groundwater that wells up through porous volcanic soil. Freshwater reeds and marsh plants support rare aquatic insects and the broader ecosystem that depends on them year-round. The marsh was jointly designated under the Ramsar Convention in 2005 along with nearby Bogatsuru Wetland, recognizing the area's international ecological importance. The surrounding landscape shifts through the seasons, from snow-covered winter flats to the flowering reeds of summer, making it worth visiting in any month.
