寸又峡
Turquoise river gorge accessed by historic steam locomotive, with hiking trails along emerald waters and bridges.
Gorge in the Oi River valley in Kawanehon, Shizuoka, where mineral-rich spring water gives the river its deep blue-green color that changes intensity with the season and weather. A 90-meter suspension bridge spans the gorge at its narrowest point, offering a clear view down into the water below. Walking paths follow the riverbanks through cedar forest, and in autumn the surrounding hills turn to red and gold above the blue water. A ryokan district at the entrance to the gorge has been here since the Meiji era, and several traditional inns remain open along the approach.
