素波里神社と不動の滝
Subari Shrine, located next to Subari Dam, is a small shrine thought to have existed for over a millennium.
Subari Shrine is a small sanctuary with over a millennium of history, thought to have been established to enshrine a statue of Fudo Myo-o, the fierce Buddhist deity often associated with waterfalls and remote mountains. The current structure follows the gongen-zukuri style, with the worship hall and main sanctuary connected under the same roof. A few minutes' walk west is Fudo Falls, a 30-meter plunge waterfall where a column of water drops through open air to a pool below. The falls are sometimes called Urami no Taki because visitors can stand behind the falling water and look outward, though the wet rocks underfoot require care.
Purify your hands at the temizuya before approaching the main hall. Left hand first, then right, then pour water into your left hand to rinse your mouth.
