Stone Torii Gate
shrine
丹生官省符神社石造鳥居
This massive stone torii gate marks the official entrance to Niukanshofu Shrine, separating it from Jisonin Temple below. It once stood in front of the shrine in its original location further down the slope, closer to the Kinokawa River. When the shrine was moved to its current location in 1541 to protect it from flooding, the torii gate was moved as well.
Purify your hands at the temizuya before approaching the main hall. Left hand first, then right, then pour water into your left hand to rinse your mouth.
