Overview
Intricately carved stone gate serving as a highly sacred altar for the Ryukyuan kings.
A beautifully carved limestone gate located just steps away from Shuri Castle. While it looks like an entrance, it is actually a sacred altar where the Ryukyuan kings prayed for safe journeys before leaving the castle. It is a masterpiece of native Ryukyuan masonry.
