Soba Itou
restaurant
蕎麦 伊とう
Handmade soba served in a beautifully preserved wooden machiya just west of Nagoya Station.
Tucked into the quiet backstreets of the former Nakamura Yukaku district, Soba Itou occupies a restored Taisho-era wooden building that once served the old pleasure quarter. The soba master grinds buckwheat daily and serves limited quantities of hand-cut noodles with dipping broth made from aged katsuobushi. The building itself, with its dark timber, earthen walls, and paper shoji, is as much a draw as the food.
They close when the soba runs out, which can be as early as 13:00 on weekends. Arrive before noon for the best selection.
