Capital of Shogi (Japanese chess) pieces.
Tendo produces 95% of Japan's shogi pieces. At the Tendo Tower, you can see artisans carving and lacquering the pieces by hand. There is a workshop where you can try 'writing' your own kanji onto a giant decorative shogi piece. Even the sidewalks and bridges in the town are decorated with shogi pieces, making it a unique themed destination.
