Tucked into the southern tip of Tokushima where it borders Kochi, Shishikui draws surfers from across Kansai to its consistent Pacific breaks without the crowds of mainland beaches. The village retains a slow coastal atmosphere with a handful of onsen ryokan and family-run izakaya. Loggerhead sea turtles nest on nearby Ohama Beach from May through August.
