Overview
Shirogane Park lies on the southern outskirts of Ginzan Onsen, connecting the historic town to the shuttered mines that were once the lifeblood of the community.
Shirogane Park sits on the southern edge of Ginzan Onsen, connecting the town to the long-shuttered silver mines that once sustained the community. The park's main trail winds through forested hills past the 22-meter Shirogane Falls, through Senshin Gorge, and on to the historic Nobesawa Silver Mine, a 20-meter tunnel where visitors can walk through the cramped working environment miners knew centuries ago. Along the way, Natsu Shirazu Cave exhales naturally cool air even in summer. The full trail is nearly 4 kilometers and takes about 80 minutes. Shorter 2-kilometer and 0.8-kilometer options are also available. The trail closes in winter.
