露天風呂
Visitors to Shiretoko have the opportunity to bathe outdoors in some rugged and unusual locations.
Three outdoor hot springs in the Shiretoko Peninsula offer bathing in some of the most remote settings in Japan. Kuma no Yu, in dense forest at the base of Mt. Rausu, is a wooden bath named after the bears that inhabit the surrounding woods and sits directly across from the trailhead to Shiretoko's highest peak. Aidomari bath overlooks the Nemuro Strait on a rocky shoreline, with gender separation during the summer season. Seseki sits in the actual shallows of the strait and only emerges at low tide, accessible from early July to late September. Tide timing is essential at Seseki as the pools submerge completely at high water.
Wash thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the bath. This is non-negotiable etiquette. Bring a small towel but keep it out of the water.
