Running parallel to the famous Sanmachi Suji but receiving a fraction of the foot traffic, Shirakabe Dozo Street features white-plastered storehouses reflected in a narrow canal. These kura once stored sake, rice, and merchant goods during Takayama's prosperous Edo period. Today they house antique dealers, small galleries, and artisan workshops.
