Overview

Shiodome is an area of gleaming skyscrapers and restaurants of global cuisine, and only opened up to the public in 2002.

Gleaming district of skyscrapers and international dining that emerged in 2002 on the site of the original Shimbashi railway terminus. The area blends corporate towers with cultural attractions, including the restored Shimbashi Station replica and the whimsical Miyazaki Clock designed by Studio Ghibli, which performs a mechanical show several times daily. Caretta Shiodome houses the Advertising Museum Tokyo and hosts a stunning winter illumination display each December. The elevated pedestrian walkways connect directly to the waterfront Hamarikyu Gardens, making it easy to pair modern architecture with a stroll through centuries-old Japanese landscaping.
