Shinjuku stacks every register of Tokyo on top of itself: the government observation decks, department store basements, Kabukicho's neon towers, and the narrow alleys of Omoide Yokocho where smoke from yakitori grills fills the gaps between stalls. The station handles 3.5 million passengers daily.
