Overview
Riverside onsen in Oku-Aizu with stunning views of the Tadami River.
Miyashita Onsen 'Eikokan' is a small, family-run ryokan located on a cliff overlooking the Tadami River. It is a favorite spot for photographers capturing the Tadami Line train crossing the river. The bathing area is simple but offers floor-to-ceiling windows that provide an unobstructed view of the river and the surrounding mountains. The water is a sodium-chloride spring, known for its ability to keep the body warm long after bathing. It is an extremely quiet and contemplative location, perfect for those exploring the remote Aizu region. It is one of the most scenic day-trip onsens in Fukushima.
Local tips
Wash thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the bath. This is non-negotiable etiquette. Bring a small towel but keep it out of the water.
