Overview
Modern aquarium with themed tanks on the Seto Inland Sea & the Pacific Ocean, plus a dolphin pool.
Shikoku Aquarium in Utazu Seaside Park focuses on the marine life surrounding Shikoku, with around 400 species displayed in panoramic tanks. A floor-to-ceiling exhibit highlights the Japanese horse mackerel and about 20 other fish carried along by the Kuroshio current. The shark tank lets you look up at scalloped hammerhead sharks from below. The Uzushio tank recreates conditions beneath the famous Naruto Strait tidal whirlpools. The dolphin pool on the Sunset Deck is positioned to appear continuous with the Seto Inland Sea behind it, and at dusk, jumping dolphins against the darkening water make for a good view.
