Shigira Beach
beach
シギラビーチ
Resort beach on Miyako Island with crystal waters, snorkeling among tropical fish, and sea turtle sightings offshore.
On the eastern side of Miyakojima, part of a resort complex that keeps the beach well maintained and relatively uncrowded compared to the island's more visited western shores. The reef offshore is a nesting and feeding area for green sea turtles, which can often be spotted by snorkelers in the shallower sections. Rental umbrellas and loungers are available along the sand, and the resort behind the beach has facilities including showers and a restaurant. The water is calm enough for swimming most of the year, and the coral cover near the reef edge is still largely intact.
