Overview

At 60 m tall, Senpiro Waterfall is a spectacular site.

Standing 60 meters tall on Yakushima, Senpiro Waterfall carved one of Japan's largest granite bedrocks through sheer force. Its name refers to the rock face beside it, said to stretch the width of one thousand people standing hand in hand. Three observation points let you experience the falls at different scales: the first gives the closest view into the valley, the second overlooks coastal villages and Mt. Mocchomu, and the third faces the southern shoreline. From the falls, a trail leads up rocky Mt. Mocchomu for anyone wanting a longer hike across the southern part of the island.
