西部林道
Located in the western part of Yakushima, Seibu Rindo Forest Path is bounded by a wide variety of subtropical trees and plants.
The Seibu Rindo Forest Path winds through the western part of Yakushima, where subtropical trees and dense undergrowth create one of the island's best spots for watching wildlife. This section of forest is protected from hunting, so the resident Yaku macaques and Yaku deer, both subspecies found only on Yakushima, behave with unusual calm. Male Yaku deer have darker coats and less branched antlers than their mainland relatives. Groups of macaques can often be seen grooming each other along the roadside. The best approach is to drive slowly and observe from the vehicle, keeping enough distance that the animals stay relaxed.
