Futuristic waterfront district with Fukuoka Tower, Yahuoku Dome, and Momochihama Beach.
Modern waterfront district in Fukuoka built on reclaimed land, anchored by Fukuoka Tower and the PayPay Dome (home of the SoftBank Hawks baseball team). A man-made sandy beach stretches along the shoreline, backed by a promenade of restaurants, cafes, and shops with a distinctly contemporary feel compared to the older parts of the city. The area was developed for the 1989 Asia Pacific Expo and has matured into a popular leisure zone, particularly on summer evenings when the beach fills with barbecue groups and the tower lights up overhead. The Fukuoka City Museum, which houses the famous gold seal of the King of Na, is also here.
