Saruhiki Waterfall

Deep in the forests of the San'in coast near Shin-Onsen, this mossy waterfall tumbles over rocks blanketed in vivid green moss, creating the effect of water flowing through an emerald cave. The short forest trail from the road is unmarked on most tourist maps, and visitors rarely number more than a handful. The surrounding beech forest in Hyogo's remote northwestern corner is part of the San'in Kaigan Geopark.
