Sapporo TV Tower
landmark
さっぽろテレビ塔
Sapporo's iconic 147-meter landmark tower offering panoramic city views, especially spectacular during Snow Festival.
Sapporo TV Tower has marked the eastern end of Odori Park since 1957, standing 147 meters tall with large digital clocks visible from across the park. The observation deck at 90 meters offers a clear view westward along the park's 1.5-kilometer length toward Mount Teine, and on clear days the Ishikari Plain and Sea of Japan are visible beyond. The tower is at its most useful during the Sapporo Snow Festival in early February, when the deck provides the best elevated view of the elaborate snow sculptures filling Odori Park below. A floor-to-ceiling glass panel called the Thrill Window gives a direct view straight down to the street for those who want the vertigo.
