Saga International Balloon Fiesta

Held in late October or early November, this international event features over 100 hot air balloons from around the world. The colorful balloons taking off simultaneously against the vast Saga plains is a spectacular sight. The event includes competitive tasks as well as 'Balloon Fantasia,' featuring balloons shaped like animals and characters. The 'La Montgolfier Nocturne' is a highlight, where balloons are tethered to the ground at night and lit up by their burners in time to music, reflecting in the Kase River. It is one of Kyushu's most popular autumn events, attracting families and photographers from across Japan.
