Overview
World's only deep-sea aquarium with live giant isopods and coelacanths, beside a working fish market.
The world's only aquarium dedicated exclusively to deep-sea creatures, located at Numazu Port on the edge of Suruga Bay, Japan's deepest bay at 2,500 meters. The collection includes preserved coelacanths, bioluminescent species, and live giant isopods. The adjacent fish market sells deep-sea fish like kinmedai (golden-eye snapper) for on-the-spot sashimi.
