Rokujo Beach

六畳ビーチ
Fabulous beaches on every Okinawa island, some stretching for miles, with great facilities for divers and sunbathers.
A small cove on Yonaguni Island, Japan's westernmost point in the Okinawa archipelago. The name translates roughly to six-tatami-mat beach, a fair description of its intimate size. Reaching it requires a short scramble down a rocky trail, which keeps the crowd away. The water is clear and good for snorkeling among coral formations and tropical fish. The surrounding cliffs provide a dramatic backdrop. On exceptionally clear days, Taiwan's mountains are visible on the horizon. The island itself is known for endemic small horses, mysterious underwater rock formations, and short flights in from Naha or Ishigaki.
