道の駅 たくみの里
Overview
Craft village where visitors try traditional Japanese arts including washi papermaking, soba cutting, and pottery.
Spread across the hills outside Minakami in Gunma, Takuminosato is a working village complex where traditional crafts are still practiced and taught. About 20 workshops cover weaving, glassblowing, washi paper making, charcoal production, and more, with most offering short hands-on sessions for visitors. In season you can pick fruit from the farm areas. A few restaurants on site serve local mountain cuisine. It's a half-day or longer activity depending on how many workshops you try. The mountain setting is pleasant in spring and autumn. It works especially well for groups and families who want something participatory rather than just observational.
