Rikyu Honten
restaurant
The Sendai Station branch of Sendai's most-visited gyūtan chain, inside S-PAL on the third floor.
The flagship Sendai Station branch of the city's most-visited gyūtan chain, on the third floor of S-PAL Sendai inside the JR station complex. The set meal is the standard order: thick-cut salt-cured beef tongue grilled over binchō-tan charcoal, served with mugi-meshi (barley rice), oxtail soup, and a side of tsukemono. Lines tend to be longest immediately after Shinkansen arrivals — go off-peak for faster seating. Counter and table seating both. Lunch sets run 1,800 to 2,400 yen; dinner adds an A5 grade option for around 4,000.
Ask for 'gyūtan teishoku, atsugiri' (thick-cut) — not on the English menu but the kitchen will do it. Skip lunch lines (12:00 to 13:30) by arriving at 11:00 or after 14:00.
