Shodoshima Olive Park
park
小豆島オリーブ公園
Mediterranean style park & olive grove with a Greek windmill, museum, restaurants & gift shop.
Built around the site where Japan's first successful olive cultivation took hold in 1908. The hilltop park overlooks olive groves and the Seto Inland Sea from a Greek-style windmill that has become one of Kagawa's most photographed spots. Visitors borrow broomsticks to recreate the flying scene from the Kiki's Delivery Service anime in front of the windmill backdrop. A small olive museum traces the island's cultivation history, and on-site cafes and restaurants feature olive-themed menus. The gift shop sells locally pressed olive oil, olive-based cosmetics, and olive chocolate.
If you're here in spring, the cherry trees in the back sections are less crowded than the main promenade.
