Port Of Nagoya Public Aquarium
名古屋港水族館
Overview
Modern aquarium with many species, including whales, a dolphin show & food & drink concessions.
One of Japan's largest aquarium complexes, this facility in Nagoya's Garden Pier waterfront area divides into two buildings. The North Building houses dolphins, beluga whales, orcas, sea lions, and emperor penguins, with live performances in the main pool. The South Building takes visitors through five ocean zones from the tropics to Antarctica, including a coral reef tunnel where sea turtles swim overhead and a dedicated jellyfish gallery. The aquarium's sea turtle breeding program adds genuine scientific depth. The site also sits next to a historic Antarctic research vessel open for tours, making a full day of it easy. It is well suited for families and anyone with a serious interest in marine life.
